Poltrona Frau and Wilmotte & Associés present Carrephilia in Paris
On the occasion of Maison & Objet 2025, inside its Paris flagship store, Poltrona Frau unveiled in preview Carrephilia, the new armchair designed in collaboration with Wilmotte & Industries. The event celebrated the connection between Italian design and Parisian heritage, welcoming architects, interior designers, and enthusiasts of high-end furniture.
The collaboration between Poltrona Frau – through its Custom Interiors Business Unit – and Paris-based studio Wilmotte & Associés began in the early 2000s and has since evolved through iconic projects that combine architectural elegance with Italian artisanal savoir-faire.
Within this journey comes Carrephilia, a new seat with generous proportions balanced by a mesh of interwoven Pelle Frau® strips, creating a transparent, refined, and resistant texture. Conceived as the natural evolution of the Bridge armchair, Carrephilia is now designed for broader adoption across the luxury hospitality and high-end residential sectors.
Showcasing its versatility, Carrephilia was presented in two different combinations of materials and finishes: the first with a natural ash frame and armrests, a mesh covering embroidered with an interlacing pattern in Pelle Frau® Impact Less Colorsphere® SC32 Caolino, and fabric cushions; the second in a monochromatic black-toned look, with a weghè-stained ash frame and armrests, and a mesh covering embroidered with an interlacing pattern in Pelle Frau® Impact Less Colorsphere® SC20 Inchiostro.
The name Carrephilia evokes a dual resonance: “carré” — the square symbol of grounding, equilibrium and geometric rigor reflected in the woven pattern — and philia, a reference to hospitality, an invitation to pause, connect, and feel welcomed. A semantic and formal synthesis that perfectly captures the identity of the seat: strong, welcoming, balanced, and enriched with sophisticated details.
Carrephilia represents a new chapter in the two-decade collaboration between Poltrona Frau and Wilmotte & Associés and will join the Poltrona Frau Custom Interiors collection with a high level of customization in finishes, colours, and materials, fully reflecting the tailor-made approach that has always defined Poltrona Frau’s vision.
Also in Paris, during Maison & Objet 2025, Poltrona Frau enlivened its Le Bon Marché store with an exclusive event in collaboration with Fornasetti. On this occasion, the 2025 Fornasetti x Poltrona Frau capsule collection was unveiled, featuring the two iconic pieces — the 1919 armchair and the Isidoro bar cabinet — reinterpreted with Fornasetti’s unmistakable “Ultime Notizie” decorative motif.
